Microlens based 4D-lightfield cameras for 3D image recording through a single lens in a single shot

The increasing power of digital image processing makes more and more application areas accessible. Industry, in particular, demands ever increasing camera resolutions and frame rates with high information content. High information content typically means image colour and a high “image quality” in general, but also the additional gain that can be drawn from 3D information becomes more important. Here we present an innovative technology that allows for the recording of 3D image data with a single camera, a single lens, in a single shot.
