Thin-film anti-reflection coating is a mature technology that significantly reduces reflections in laser optics. But it tends to be limited in wavelength and angle of incidence, and care must be taken if it is to be robust to high laser power. A new nanoscale surface treatment reduces reflectance comparable to thin-film coatings, but over a wider wavelength and angular range. Random antireflective nanostructuring (RAR) - also offers ease of manufacturability to reduce costs and improve time-to-market.
