Thin-Film-on-CMOS – improved image sensors for special applications

As an add-on to standard CMOS processes on silicon substrates, TFC technology enables the manufacture of vertically integrated image sensors with a high fill factor and properties specially adapted to the application. Examples of CMOS imagers with amorphous silicon photodiodes, their characteristics as well as typical applications are presented.
